Working Class Hero

Times are shitty
But I'm pretty sure they can't get worse

Well, they probably could get worse, but times are pretty cruddy lately as it seems everyone around is losing their jobs, their homes / apartments, and their minds too. We are really on the edge of getting our apartment, but it's going to rely on a lot of luck on things going through, and not getting stuck trying to find shelter for another month (I'm not sure either of us could handle that at this point).

It seems like everyone is going nuts because of it. In the last week I've seen two fights break out at Central Plaza bus terminal in St. Pete, one between a guy trying to take a drunk guy's alcohol from him and the other was a younger woman beating up an older guy with a cane. Is everyone going crazy, or is it just me? While at the same time, I see the upper people just pretty much ignoring it, and ignoring the rest of what everyone else is fighting. Good example is, even though I love working there, I cant anywhere close to enough hours at work to actually survive on. Between rent being 50% higher here, not including utilities, Jenn's prescriptions being double, and forget about gas, it's amazing anyone who needs to is surviving. Yet I have to fight for hours against those still living at home and in high school. I understand that they need to work too, but I should not be rivaling for hours just to try and reach 30 hours when kids in high school are getting 20 to 30 hours, and they keep hiring instead of distributing more hours (because then they dont have to pay benefits, right?).

The point of all this, is just that I want to give my best regards and let it known that I admire each and every person who is out there, surviving, working, who haven't gotten a break and don't make a lot of money, and making ends meet. Also, to those who *didn't* make it, and as everyone tells you that it's your fault, and that you're a failure, even though you worked and worked and gave it your all: You are a true working class hero.

A working class hero is something to be
They hit at home and they hit you at school
They hate if you're clever and despise a fool
Til your so fucking crazy cant follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
...
There's room at the top
They're telling you still
But first you must you learn
How to smile as you kill
If you want to be like all the folks on the hill
